ORGANIZATIONS WE SUPPORT
First Book
Millions of kids in low-income communities don’t have the new books and resources they need to achieve their full potential. First Book provides books for children in need.
For every $3 donated, one new book is given. Our goal is to donate over 2,500 first books that will help children read and inspire their imaginations.
We Need Diverse Books
We Need Diverse Books is a non-profit organization created by children’s book lovers who advocate for change in the publishing industry.
We Need Diverse Books and Storyteller Academy are dedicated to increasing diversity in children’s literature. Part of the funds we raise will go toward a diversity scholarship to support the next generation of storytellers.

Every November, Storyteller Academy hosts Black Friday Bootcamp, an online event where our instructors donate their time to help us deliver several hours of instruction on picture book writing and illustration. All ticket sale proceeds go to charity.
Last year, we raised over $20,000 for First Book and We Need Diverse Books!
WHY WE'RE DOING THIS
1. We're storytellers who share our craft.
Our mission at Storyteller Academy is to help aspiring Storytellers learn the art of storytelling and achieve their publishing goals. We share our creative processes with you! After Black Friday Bootcamp, you'll be closer to achieving your storytelling goals, which means we'll be closer to achieving our mission.
2. We give books and change lives!
As always, we will be donating 100% of the registration fees from this bootcamp to two very special non-profit organizations.
First Book provides access to children's books in low-income communities.
We Need Diverse Books is committed to increasing diversity in children's books. We'll be donating funds to support their diversity initiatives.
Our goal is to raise $25,000, and with your help, I'm confident we'll get there.
